A 52-year-old woman escaped a bid on her life, when two men entered her bungalow, threatened her and demanded money. The duo took to heels after the domestic help of the woman came to the woman's aid on hearing her cry for help.

Pune: A 52-year-old woman escaped a bid on her life, when two men entered her bungalow, threatened her and demanded money. The duo took to heels after the domestic help of the woman came to the woman's aid on hearing her cry for help.
According to the complainant, the incident took place on April 26 around 4.45 pm.
Nearly a fortnight ago, Aruna Mohan Deshmukh, a resident of Valhekarnagar in Parvati, had rendered the services of four men to paint the bungalow.

On Tuesday, for getting her bungalow painted a fortnight ago. two of the labourers, Akshay Thorat (21) and Ganesh Bhalke (20) from Taljai vasahat, visited her home claiming they were there to give a ‘final touch' to the paint job.
Since Deshmukh knew the men, she allowed them into the house. Thinking that she was alone at home, Bhalke placed a knife on her neck while Thorat asked her to hand over the money.
The panicked woman raised an alarm but Thorat gagged and threatened herdire consequences in Marathi. When the domestic help rushed in to help, the The woman's domestic help rushed there on hearing her cries for help. The men sensed trouble and took to heels without robbing any ornaments or cash or valuables from the bungalow.
The incident came to light after Deshmukh whose husband is a chartered accountant registered a complaint against the two men under section 393 (robbery attempt) of the IPC.

Sub inspector Shaktisingh Khanvilkar, of the Sahakarnagar police station, confirmed that on Wednesday said Thorat was arrested on the same night while the police are still on the lookout for Bhalke, considered the main suspect in the case a hunt has been launched for arresting and seizing the knife from Bhalke, the main suspect in the case. Meanwhile, Thorat has been remanded to police custody until April 29.
Deshmukh's son was present in the bungalow, but he was sleeping when the incident had taken place. Thorat is in police custody remand till April 29. He will be interrogated to ascertain his intention behind the robbery bid, he added.
