PUNE: The Pimpri Chinchwad police on Friday arrested a security guard of an engineering company in Chakan and his four accomplices for stealing 800kg of steel and a transport vehicle, collectively worth Rs2.4 lakh.
The arrested guard, Dilnawaz Khan (54), had planned this with Mohammed Shaikh (32), Rizwan Chaudhari (22), Jasaruddin Chaudhari (23) and Deepak Surwade (23), all from Mumbra in Thane district.
Assistant inspector Vikram Gaikwad of the Chakan police said that in the early hours of February 17, a gang of four men barged into the company and threatened Khan and another guard, Mariba Bhoge. They loaded about 800kg of steel in a truck and drove away. “When we questioned the guards, we found discrepancies in Khan’s statement,” Gaikwad said. “During the sustained questioning, Khan admitted his involvement in the crime and also revealed the names of his accomplices,” Gaikwad added.
