PUNE: Nimisha Nair, a second semester student of acting (2017 batch) at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) has been awarded the prestigious Bachchan Patra Scholarship instituted by Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. A cheque of Rs50,000 was presented to Nair by Bhupendra Kainthola, director, FTII, in the presence of Benjamin Gilani, head, department of acting, FTII.

The scholarship is presented annually to a student of acting course, who tops the FTII entrance exam. A Delhi girl, Nimisha studied Bachelors of Mass Media (Advertising) at Jai Hind College, Mumbai, before joining FTII last August.
The institute offers a limited number of scholarships to deserving students in the three year Diploma courses in Film and Television and One Year Certificate Course in Television. The scholarships are awarded at the beginning of the year based on the performance at the time of admission and later based on the performance in the annual examination in theory, practical and projects.
