A 20-year-old college student died after her scooter was rammed by a dumper on Aundh Road in Khadki on Thursday afternoon. She was returning home from college.

Pune: A 20-year-old college student died after her scooter was rammed by a dumper on Aundh Road in Khadki on Thursday afternoon. She was returning home from college. Police identified the deceased as Anjali Manohar Ramdas (20) of Guru Angadnagar, Aundh Road. “She was not wearing a helmet,” said Shriniwas Kamuni, sub-inspector of the Khadki police station.

Police have arrested the dumper’s driver Ratnadip Vitthal Jaybhaye (26) of Wagholi for negligent driving. “The accident spot is hardly 500 m from Anjali’s residence. When she came to the junction near a temple on Aundh Road, the speeding dumper rammed her two-wheeler. She fell on the road and the dumper ran over her,” Kamuni said. Members of the public took Anjali to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead by the doctors. In another accident, a 25-year-old man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding pillion on crashed into a boulder along the roadside in Lande Vasti in Bhosari late on Wednesday night. The Bhosari MIDC police said the deceased, Ramji Ramesh Tiwari, (25) is from Balajinagr, Bhosari. Police have booked the motorcycle rider Bhima Kori for negligence . Accident victim succumbs Harsh Singh (19), a resident of Dehu Road, who had sustained severe injuries in an accident on Dehu Road on the Pune-Mumbai highway in the afternoon on Wednesday, succumbed during treatment on Thursday. Singh’s friend Kartik Nadar (19) was killed on the spot, while another friend Krishndev Pachori (19) is being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) at a private hospital in Nigdi.
