Pune horror: 13-year-old raped inside car, accused arrested

PUNE: The Pune city police on Thursday arrested a 29-year-old man, who works as a driver of a private car, on the charge of raping a minor girl (13) inside the vehicle.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when the girl was on her way to school, a police officer said. The man stopped his car and offered her a lift.


"The girl went along with him since she knew him. The man, however, drove the car to a secluded spot and raped her inside the vehicle. He threatened the girl not to reveal anything to her parents," the officer said.

The officer said the girl informed her parents about the incident, following which her mother lodged a complaint. "We arrested the man and seized the car. He recently purchased that car second hand. The accused was remanded in police custody for two days," he said.

The accused was charged under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from the Sexual Offences Act.
