Delhi fog hits flight movements, two cancelled

Pune: More than 15 flight movements from and to the city were delayed and two got cancelled because of the worsening weather conditions in Delhi owing to fog.Sachin Deshpande, booked on the IndiGo flight (6E-2343) from Delhi to Pune in the wee hours of Tuesday, said, "My flight has been cancelled due to bad weather. Surprisingly, the Air India flight from Delhi to Pune, leaving at the same time, is on time. Why is the IndiGo flight getting cancelled? Bad weather should affect every airline," he wrote on X.
An Air India Express flight, scheduled to fly from Delhi at 9.55am and land in Pune at 12.25pm, was also cancelled. "They gave me an option of a refund, but that doesn't solve my problem because I was to be in Pune today (Tuesday) for an important function and I booked my hotel. The hotel surely won't be giving me a refund," Manav Pandey, a corporate sector employee in Delhi, said.Ashish Gupta, another passenger, said, "We had a flight from Guwahati to Pune via Delhi. The flight from Delhi to Pune got cancelled because of adverse weather conditions. We literally had to beg the ground staff to get some alternative. After 11 hours at the airport, we got the flight to Pune," he wrote on X without mentioning the flight details.Until 11am on Tuesday, many flights, particularly those arriving from Delhi, were delayed between 30 minutes and more than two hours. This resulted in consequential effects, and flights kept on getting delayed until the afternoon hours.Flyers with travel plans to and from northern parts of the country in the next few days contemplated cancellation of trips. "I was to come from Delhi to Pune on New Year's Eve but cancelled the trip as I don't want any hassle. I will travel in February," Pallavi Jadhav said.Sumit Kashyap, who had plans to travel to Lucknow, echoed her. He said he would travel in Holi and cancelled his plan to be with his family in the New Year because of flight disruptions.
