Pune techie, family attacked after bike brushes against MUV

PUNE: A family from Charholi travelling in a multi-purpose vehicle (MUV) allegedly assaulted a 35-year-old techie, his wife and accidentally struck their three-year-old son on the Pune-Nagar highway near Wagholi around 7pm on Wednesday, after the techie’s motorcycle allegedly brushed against the vehicle.

According to the Wagholi police, the techie, who had moved to Pune about a month ago, filed a complaint later that night. He suffered minor injuries in the incident.

“The incident occurred when the techie, employed with a city-based software company, was riding with his family towards Shirur when the multi-purpose vehicle, also headed in the same direction, brushed against his motorcycle,” an officer of the Wagholi police said.

Following the incident, both the vehicles stopped. “The occupants of the multi-purpose vehicle then got out and allegedly slapped and verbally abused the techie. They also assaulted the techie’s wife and accidentally struck the couple’s son,” the police said.

The police have issued notices to the MUV occupants, directing them to cooperate with the investigation. “The family was travelling to a pilgrimage site,” the police said.

Later that night, the techie took to social media and uploaded a video of the purported incident, detailing his ordeal. In the post, he claimed that both he and his wife were assaulted during the altercation, leaving him with minor injuries to his forehead. He further alleged that the incident left his young son shaken and frightened.
