PUNE : The Cantonment police on Wednesday conducted searches at the office and residence of builder Nishat Vazir at Napier road and Kondhwa respectively for tracing him for allegedly hiring about 15 people for ransacking the house of 70 year old tenant Ivy Marshal of bungalow no.4 NPS Lines near Preet Mandir in Camp.
Speaking to TOI, inspector Vitthal Rane (crime) who is investigating the case said, "Two police teams have conducted searches at Vazir's office and residence for tracing him, but his whereabouts were not known".
Assistant commissioner of police (cantonment division) Ashok Gaikwad said the police teams have been informed that Vazir was out of Pune since the incident.
According to Gaikwad "The police have intensified its hunt for tracing the suspects and they will be soon arrested".
About 15 people had ransacked the house of Marshal and allegedly stole Rs 1.5 lakh on Monday afternoon. Marshal has registered a case of rioting and theft against Vazir and others under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
