pune: film and television institute of india (ftii) director dr mohan agashe who submitted his resignation from the institute on march 4, hasn''t entirely given up on the ftii. the well-known actor-psychiatrist who has just returned from a conference in mumbai told times news network that although he has submitted his resignation from the ftii he is "not averse to heading the ftii if the new governing council so decides".
"i am averse to continuing in the current fashion. however, i am not averse to a fresh appointment provided it is done on my terms and conditions," he said. the ftii director whose current term was due to expire on march 31, 2003, declined to specify his "terms and conditions". ftii circles say that dr agashe''s differences with the outgoing chairman of the governing council, vinod khanna, were well-known. speaking to this newspaper dr agashe admitted that many of his proposals suffered a setback after khanna''s appointment as the governing council chairman in october 2000. he however described his five years at the ftii as "a big learning experience" but said that the last two years were particularly unhappy for him as the ftii was asked to implement decisions whose feasibility was questionable. he has informed the information and broadcasting ministry that his current functioning till may 10 be considered as "notice period" and that he be relieved on that date.
