PUNE: The Pune crime branch on Wednesday claimed to have solved the alleged
robbery of Rs 9 lakh belonging to a trading firm in Market Yard following the arrest of an accountant of the firm and his accomplice.
The police on Wednesday recovered the cash from Janata Vasahat area. A crime branch (unit-II) team led by inspector Sunil Patil arrested one Shirapd Ravindra Malapure (25) of Hamalnagar, Market Yard and his accomplice Vinod Kashid (20) of Janata Vasahat.
Investigations have revealed that Malapure had hatched the plot as he wanted to purchase a flat with the money, police said. Additional commissioner of police (crime) Anant Shinde said that on June 8 Malapure had lodged a complaint with the Swargate police station stating that he was robbed of Rs 9 lakh by two-motorcycle borne men when he was going to his office after withdrawing the amount from a bank.
However, the police arrested Malapure as his employer Sameer Nikam suspected his involvement in the crime. "During interrogation Malapure did not divulge any details. We arrested his accomplice Kashid on a tip-off on Wednesday. Kashid revealed that the plot was hatched by Malapure and also showed us the place where he had kept the cash," said inspector Sunil Patil.
