3 years on, over 70 M.Ed students await degree certificates
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Around 72 M.Ed students are awaiting their degree certificates from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) since 2023.While the university authorities continue to cite technical issues associated with data maintenance for the lapse, the issue caught the attention of the varsity's senate meeting on Saturday.
Bamu senate member Poonam Patil, who raised the issue of M.Ed students, said the university officials will be responsible if the students concerned lose any job or educational opportunity. "The university authorities come out with a stock answer that there is a technical issue in generating the degrees. They failed to resolve the issue in the past three years. It is nothing but injustice to the students," she said.Responding to the query concerned, BN Dole, director of the board of examinations and evaluation of Bamu told the senate that opinion has been sought from the dean of the faculty in question to resolve the issue. "Once we get remarks from the dean, we will decide our future course of action," he said. When contacted, dean Vaishali Khaparde said she was stuck in a private event. It is learnt that the mark-sheets of different semesters of affected M.Ed students were not reflecting in the university database and therefore the degree certificates cannot be generated.Student activist Tukaram Saraf said the lapse needs to be rectified at the earliest. "Degree certificate is a vital document that is required for higher studies and the job application process. Affected students are feeling helpless as they have been following up for last three years," he said
