Pune: State
BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Wednesday said they were reaching out to Muslims in
Maharashtra and as a result, nearly 20% of the community would vote in favour of the BJP.
Bawankule was in Pune and met members of the state’s minority cell on Wednesday. He said, “Muslim families are experiencing India’s success under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Looking at all the progress, I am confident that 20% of Muslims in Maharashtra will vote in our favour in the LS elections.”
Bawankule said they were in the process of appointing 48 minority leaders in the LS constituencies. “This will ensure that the government’s achievements reach Muslims across the state.”
“Our Muslim leaders will lead the ‘Ghar Chalo’ plan to reach 3.5 lakh homes in every constituency,” he added.
When asked about Maratha activist Manoj Jarange’s hunger strike for Maratha reservation, he said, “The government is working out a plan to give reservation to the Maratha community under a separate category without disturbing the existing OBC quota.”
Meanwhile, Bawankule criticised Uddhav Thackeray for not taking a stand against Tamil Nadu chief minister’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin over his comment on the Sanatan Dharma.“He must make it clear whether he supports Udhayanidhi’s statement or not. If he does not support the statement, will he leave the INDIA front in protest? If he doesn’t, we will know his Hindutva is fake.”
