The crime branch on Monday claimed to have solved 14 cases, including 10 burglaries and four vehicle thefts, with the arrest of two criminals on police records.

PUNE: The crime branch on Monday claimed to have solved 14 cases, including 10 burglaries and four vehicle thefts, with the arrest of two criminals on police records. The police have recovered gold, laptops and four motorcycles totally worth Rs 20 lakh from them.
The suspects have been identified as Kashinath Chandrakant Gaikwad (22) of Bhingwan and Aslam Salim Shaikh (22) of Kasewadi.

Gaikwad has 15 cases of burglaries registered against him at various police stations in the city, while Shaikh has 12 cases of burglaries registered against him. The crime branch (unit-III) led by inspector Sunil Pawar has made the arrests.
Pawar told TOI that the suspects used to steal motorcycles from parking lots and used to conduct recce of locked flats at different areas. During the night, they used to enter the flats through the terrace and steal valuables.
Pawar said that during the last two months the duo had committed 10 burglaries and had stolen four motorcycles from Sangvi and Wanowrie. "Shaikh was externed from the city limits for two years on December 14, 2012. He had committed the crimes by violating the externment order," Pawar added.
