PUNE: Over 1,500 students from 60 city colleges participated in “Astitva” inter-college cultural exchange programme held at the Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (

BMCC

) on Monday.

The event was organized to preserve the cultural heritage from different regions in the country and create awareness among students about the same. The competition was inaugurated by classical singer Anand Bhate.

Speaking at the inauguration, Bhate said, “Apart from studies, students must learn an art form which will give them satisfaction. Music would de-stress individuals, especially in this fast paced corporate world. Even if people are not great singers, they can definitely listen to music.”

BMCC has been organizing “Astitva” since 2010 to give students a platform to showcase their artistic talents.

The theme of the competition was “the environment” with the principles of reduce, recycle and reuse.

Competitions in art forms such as painting, dance, music and sketching were organized.
