12 physically challenged couples tie the knot in mass ceremony

Pune: The Saksham Pune Mahanagar and Divyank Kalyankari Educational and Medical Research Centre, Wanowrie, recently organised a mass wedding event where 12 physically challenged couples tied the knot.
The Coordinator of the community marriage ceremony, Dattatray Lakhe, said, “The people were introduced to each other and counselled over a period of time. The marriage was fixed by visiting the groom’s house. All the necessary housing materials have also been provided to the couples to start their married life.”
Muralidhar Kachre said, “This initiative started four years ago to bring joy to the lives of the disabled. This is a moment of supreme happiness for them.”
Former MP Pradeep Rawat, industrialist Puneet Balan, senior police inspector of Wanowrie police station Bhausaheb Pathare, and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh West Maharashtra Provincial Service chief Shailendra Borkar, among others, were present.
