Pondicherry university professor bags Suman Sharma Award

PUDUCHERRY: Pondicherry University's associate professor (Centre for pollution control and environmental engineering) Tasneem Abbasi has been conferred the prestigious Suman Sharma Award by the National Design and Research Forum recognising her contributions in the field of pollution control and environment engineering.
She received the award during the Indian Engineering Congress at Hyderabad on December 19.
Tasneem, also a visiting associate professor at the Worchester Polytechnic Institute, US, received 'Young Engineer Award' from the Institution of Engineers earlier this year.
The recipient of Best Speaker award at the World Resources Forum held at Davos, Switzerland in September last year, she has developed new processes for clean and, green treatment of wastewater and solid waste for which six patent claims have been registered.
She has authored eight books and over 100 research papers.
