EPS, OPS supporters hold protest, burn TTV effigies
Vellore: Supporters of chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam staged a protest against T T V Dinkaran and burnt his effigies in over 10 places in Vellore district on Wednesday for indulging in anti-party activities and disrespecting the government.
In Gudiyattam town, a group of supporters locked the MLA office and also burnt the
MLA of Jolarpet K C Veeramani has been the district secretary of Vellore (West) for over a decade. He was appointed by Jayalalithaa. He was replaced by Ambur MLA R Balasubramani. Sholinghur MLA N G PArthiban has also voiced his support for Dinkaran.
Ridiculing this, a district level functionary of AIADMK Murthy said Dinkaran’s affidavit submitted before the Election Commission of India was rejected. “It stated that his appointment as deputy general secretary of the party was not valid. We don’t understand in what capacity he removed K C Veeramani from the district secretary post and replaced him with Ambur MLA,” he said.
He further said Dinkaran aimed to dissolve the government formed by their leader. “We welcomed the merger of the two factions and wanted the government to continue,” Murthy added.
