Youth shot dead in Vaishali identified after 3 days
Patna: The body of a youth, found with a gunshot injury inside a car in the Gangabridge police station area of Vaishali district on Feb 17, was on Saturday identified as Bhanu Kumar (17), a resident of Surajpur village in Jehanabad. The identification was made three days later through a SIM card recovered from the vehicle near the Mahatma Gandhi Setu. Preliminary probe revealed that the Intermediate examinee had gone missing a day after Shivratri following a dispute with local youths during the exam period.According to police, Bhanu, son of Murari Sharma, used to live with his sister in Patna and had appeared for his Intermediate examinations this year. His family members said Bhanu had travelled from Patna to his native village in Jehanabad to take his board exams. After the exams ended, he allegedly had a dispute with some local youths and went missing the day after Shivratri.

Rohit Kumar, SHO of Gangabridge police station, said, “Bhanu’s body was recovered on Feb 17 with a bullet wound on the victim’s left arm. One empty bullet shell was also found at the spot. Prima facie, it appears he died due to a gunshot injury.
The body was handed over to the family after verification.”Bhanu’s father, Murari Sharma, told police that his son had quarrelled with some youths during the exam period. He suspects that those involved in the dispute murdered his only son. “A thorough investigation is underway, and the police will soon arrest those responsible for the murder,” said Subodh Kumar, Sadar (Vaishali) SDPO, who is investigating the case.
