The woman was travelling from Vaishali to Siliguri in West Bengal. When the bus reached Purnia around midnight, four men boarded it. They started misbehaving with her and made advances. She got scared and jumped from the window of the bus out of fear, Purnia SP Aamir Jawaid said.
“We are investigating the case from all angles and trying to track the bus. Her statement has been recorded. She is a resident of Darjeeling and a teacher by profession. The woman told the cops that she had gone to Vaishali on January 22 for some work,” SP Jawaid told TOI over the phone. “She took the bus from Vaishali for Siliguri at 2.30 pm. The four men boarded the bus at Purnia.
The woman said she did not like their behaviour and jumped out of the window of the moving bus,” he added. The police patrolling team led by Vijay Kumar Yadav found the woman unconscious and took her to Baisi primary health centre, from where she was referred to the Sadar hospital for better treatment. The doctors claimed she suffered serious head injuries. According to police, the woman barely speaks Hindi, but is fluent in Nepali.
