Wedding called off after girl faints in Ara
Ara: A wedding was called off on Saturday after the bride fainted during ‘jaimal’ ceremony at Chhotki Sonadiya village under Mufassil police station area in Ara.
The groom’s family allegedly refused to proceed with the marriage, terming the incident a health concern. However, doctors said the girl fainted because of weakness and exhaustion.
The ‘baraat’ had arrived at Chhotki Sonadiya village from Chhotka village in Sasaram under Udwantnagar police station area of Bhojpur district. Earlier, the ‘tilak’ and ‘haldi’ rituals were completed smoothly. However, during the ‘jaimal’, the bride suddenly fainted on stage.
Family members immediately rushed her to Ara Sadar Hospital, where the doctors said the fainting was due to tiredness and weakness. She was discharged after treatment.
“We had spent a lot on the wedding preparations of our only daughter. All our dreams have been shattered and the entire expenditure has gone in vain,” the bride’s father said at the hospital.
Despite doctors’ assurance that there was no serious health issue, the groom’s side allegedly declined to continue with the ceremony and returned with the ‘baraat’. They also handed back the motorcycle that had been given as a wedding gift, relatives of the bride claimed.
“In the rush of wedding preparations, my daughter had not been eating properly for the past few days. That may have caused the weakness. Otherwise, she is perfectly fine,” the bride’s mother said, adding that repeated attempts to persuade the groom’s family failed as they remained adamant.
