BETTIAH: The first class judicial magistrate, Bettiah, Umesh Mani Tripathi, on Thursday issued warrant against Anirudha Prasad Yadav alias Sadhu Yadav who had contested the 2009 Lok Sabha election on
Congress ticket from Paschimi Champaran constituency.
Sadhu and his associate named in the case failed to appear before the court after which a warrant was issued against them.
Court sources said the matter pertains to recovery of Rs 2.50 lakh from the possession of Yadav and his aide, Manish Anand, during the polls.
According to sources, the district administration had conducted raids at different hotels and lodges of the town during the election in a bid to curb the use of money to woo voters in the constituency.
Anand was arrested at a hotel near the Bettiah bus terminal possessing a bag of cash. During interrogation Anand, a resident of Patna, disclosed that he was Yadav's aide and admitted that the money belonged to Yadav. Following Anand's arrest, a case was lodged against the duo.
SDO Rajiv Ranjan had lodged an FIR against the two following recovery of the cash from Anand.
The police later submitted a chargesheet in court.
