Vegetable vendor, wife brutally killed in M’pura

Madhepura: A vegetable vendor and his wife were brutally murdered with hard blunt objects at their residence at Rajni village under the Murliganj police station area in Madhepura district late Thursday evening.The victims were identified as Dinesh Das (50) and his wife Bhuliya Devi (45). According to police, unidentified assailants entered the house and fatally attacked the couple.At the time of the incident, only the couple were at home. Their only son and married daughter were away. The daughter was staying at her marital home in another village. Concern arose when she was unable to reach her parents by phone and asked a neighbour to check on them.The neighbour arrived to find the outer door bolted. Upon unbolting a room from the outside, the victims were found lying in a pool of blood on the floor. Police were immediately informed.Local SHO Ajeet Kumar, accompanied by a police team, reached the spot to assess the situation. The bodies were taken into custody and sent to Madhepura Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.Police have yet to determine the motive behind the gruesome double murder. "We are investigating all possible angles. Technical experts and a dog squad have been called in to aid the investigation," said Madhepura SDPO Pravendra Bharti.
