Bettiah: Two cousins were killed after their motorcycle was hit by a speeding vehicle near Nainha Dhala under Nadi police station in Bagaha town on Thursday morning.
The victims were identified as Byas Yadav (32) and Shyam Yadav (24), both residents of Daunaha under Dhanaha police station. Family members said the two were returning home after attending wedding rituals at their sister’s house in Bakulhar in Chanpatia when the accident took place.
Dr Arun Kumar Yadav, on-duty medical officer at sub-divisional hospital Bagaha, declared them brought dead. “They were brought to the hospital in a critical condition. Upon preliminary examination, both were found dead. After completing necessary formalities, the bodies have been sent for post-mortem,” he said.
Vikas Yadav, a relative of the deceased, said, “We rushed to the hospital as soon as we received information about the accident, but it was too late. The entire family is in deep shock.”
Nadi SHO Dipak Kumar Prasad said an unidentified vehicle rammed into the motorcycle near Nainha Dhala and fled the scene. Locals alerted authorities, following which a team from Nadi police station reached the spot and shifted the injured to the sub-divisional hospital in Bagaha. Police have registered a case and launched a search to identify the vehicle and trace the driver. Further investigation is underway, he added.
