PATNA: The murder of an iron trader has put a big question mark on the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar. Sushil’s murder has further damaged the investment climate of Bihar, feels trading communities of Bihar.

Leading iron trader Sushil Varshney was gunned down by unidentified criminals in Hajipur (Vaishali district) while he was returning to Patna on Monday.

The gruesome killing took place at the Gardania Chowk in Hajipur, which has sent shock waves in the state. Sushil was shot in the chest and was rushed to the government hospital in Hajipur where the doctors declared him brought dead,

According to police sources, the police have recovered used cartridges from the spot.

"We came to know about the incident that a person has been shot dead. We took him to hospital and we do know have much details as to who this person is," said a local police officer.

Sushil, who used to deal in iron, rebars and Aligarh lock, had business spread across Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. According to sources, Sushil Kumar had gone to meet the Vaishali SP in connection with a theft that took place at his factory where his employee has misappropriated Rs. 11 lakh.

Sushil had gone to meet the SP of Vaishali to know about the progress in the case. After meeting the Vaishali SP. He was returning to Patna when he was intervened by motorcycle-borne criminals who gunned him down. The distraught family members of Sushil Kumar in Patna have raised questions over the worsening law and order situation in the state.

“The murder of a trader Sushil ji is unfortunate and condemnable. Kidnapping and loot related with trade and industry are happening in Bihar. The government must take concrete action on these issues”, says president PHDCCI Bihar Satyajit Singh.

The trader communities have demanded the government to provide a compensation of Rs 1 crore to the victim's wife. A home minister should be appointed to look after day to day administration since CM Nitish Kumar is very busy with party and government both.

CM Nitish Kumar should come forward and announce concrete steps to control the visible slide in law and order, Singh told TOI.

“To avoid question on law and order Nitish kumar removed national trade and industry organisation from ‘udhyami panchayat’ but he has to answer the question every day and being the home minister of Bihar answerable to all crime which is creating a negative investment climate in Bihar”, Singh said in a press release issued here on Tuesday.
