Three teenagers die in Darbhanga road accident
Darbhanga: Three minor boys were killed when their motorcycle, allegedly being driven at high speed, was hit by a speeding vehicle coming from the opposite direction on the Biraul-Gandaul main road (SH-17) on Wednesday. Police rushed the three severely injured boys to a private hospital at Supaul market, where doctors declared them brought dead.
The deceased were identified as Ankit Kumar (17), Pankaj Kumar Sahani (17) and Vivek Kumar (16). All three were residents of Akhatwada village under Badgaon police station in Biraul sub-division.
The trio were riding a motorcycle belonging to a home guard jawan, Baijnath Sahani, of the same village. Sahani said he and other family members had advised the boys to return to the village after playing a cricket match, but fate had other plans.
The father of Pankaj said they were bright boys with a keen interest in playing cricket.
Confirming the incident, the station house officer of Biraul police station said on Thursday that police reached the spot promptly and sent the bodies to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for post-mortem examination. In the early hours of Thursday, the bodies were handed over to their respective family members for cremation.
The officer added that efforts are underway to trace the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision. As there was no CCTV camera installed near the accident site, no footage of the incident is available. However, with the help of local people, the identity of the vehicle and its driver is being ascertained.
