Three-day film festival gets underway in Patna
PATNA: The three-day 10th Patna
The festival, organized by Hirawal, a unit of Jan Sanskriti Manch, was inaugurated by Pawan Shrivastava, filmmaker and director of first independent crowd-funded film ‘Naya Pata’.

Asked about the impression the movie will make on the audience, he said, “I expect the audience to be more sensitive in their understanding of gender dynamics of our society. The documentary also portrays the power of resistance that does not require a huge feminist revolution but is possible at household level also”.
Festival convener Santosh Jha said, “It’s important for us to show resistance to the ones who are sitting in power. Cinema is a great medium to depict real life struggles of classes that are neglected and backward in the society. We are trying our best to become an eye-opener for our society”.
Shweta Kumari, a resident of Rajendra Nagar, was excited to be there as audience. “I am a fan of content-driven movies. It is great that our city is getting exposed to such excellent stories”.
Some of the movies which will be screened during the next two days include ‘Naach Bhikhari Naach’, a documentary based on Bhikhari Thakur, ‘Womaniya’, a documentary film of first all-women band of Bihar and ‘Ferdinand’ a Spanish animated movie directed by Carlos Saldanha.

Kabutri Devi. “Kabutri Devi was a great conversationalist. Her story depicts the gender struggles of each woman of this country.
