Former prime minister of Thailand, Srettha Thavisin, accompanied by his wife and a five-member delegation, visited the world heritage Mahabodhi Mahavihara in
Bodh Gaya and participated in a prayer session on Wednesday. Thavisin emphasised the importance of strengthening cultural and religious ties between Thailand and India, particularly Buddhism, which remains a unifying force. The visit is expected to enhance India-Thai bilateral cooperation, especially in cultural exchange, religious tourism and Buddhist studies. Mahavihara caretaker Bhikkhu Deenanand and the secretary of the Bodh Gaya temple management committee, Mahasweta Maharathi, welcomed the delegation.
