Ara: A 35-year-old teacher of a govt school died on Saturday morning after a concrete mixer got detached from a pickup van and rammed into the autorickshaw she was travelling in with her twin babies and mother under Sikarhatta police station area in Bhojpur district.
The deceased, Roshan Jahan, had become a mother to twins after 14 years of marriage. She was posted as a teacher at Sikanderpur near Danapur in Patna. The twin babies escaped unhurt in the incident.
“While the teacher succumbed to her injuries at the Piro CHC, her mother, Nasima Khatoon, got seriously injured and was referred to the Ara Sadar Hospital for better treatment. Luckily the twin babies of the teacher had a narrow escape. The incident occurred at about 9.30am,” said Sanoj Kumar, Sikarhatta SHO, on Saturday.
The SHO said the accident took place near the Sikraul fuel station on the Bihiya-Bihta state highway.
According to eyewitnesses, the concrete mixer came apart from the speeding pickup van and collided with the autorickshaw, which then turned turtle, causing grievous injuries to the teacher and her mother.
“The police are looking for both the pickup and the auto drivers who fled from the spot.
However, we have seized the concrete mixer involved in the accident,” the SHO said.
Police said the teacher was a resident of Azimabad in Bhojpur. She had come to her parents’ home in Sikarhatta Khurd after giving birth to her twin babies, a son and a daughter. On Saturday morning, she was travelling to Piro for the polio vaccination of her twins when the accident occurred.
