Support centre for rural women opened at CNLU
Ptana: A new support centre aimed at empowering the voices of rural women and strengthening their access to justice was inaugurated at Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna, on Sunday to mark International Women’s Day.
Established through collaboration between the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (JEEViKA) and the Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership (PFEL), Jeevika–Didi ki Awaaz Kendra will coordinate the resolution of complaints and issues received from across the state. The Gender Resource Centre (GRC) and the Legal Aid Cell of CNLU will act as the coordinating units for the Didi ki Awaaz Kendra.
During the inaugural session, Ruby didi from Bhagalpur and Sulekha didi from Patna shared their experiences, highlighting how Didi Adhikar Kendras play a crucial role in informing rural women about their rights, registering grievances, and ensuring access to justice.
CNLU registrar S P Singh said institutional collaboration is essential to protect rural women’s rights and improve their access to legal support. He added that the university is proud to contribute to an initiative aimed at driving positive social change.
Jeevika CEO Himanshu Sharma said the Didi Adhikar Kendra and Didi ki Awaaz Kendra together will create a strong institutional mechanism to ensure women’s problems are heard, documented, and addressed by linking them with relevant agencies.
State project manager Neeraj Kumar proposed the vote of thanks.
