Patna: The Bank and Jewellery Cell of the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) arrested two members of a gang from Darbhanga involved in the robbery of 8.32 kg of gold jewellery from a shop in Karnataka’s Mysore district on Dec 28.
The arrested accused were identified as Rishikesh Singh alias Patthal Singh alias Chhotu Singh, a resident of Darbhanga, and
Pankaj Kumar alias Satuaa of Bhagalpur district.
According to a statement issued by the STF, “Unidentified criminals escaped with 8.32 kg of gold jewellery from a shop in Hunsur town police station area of Mysore district, Karnataka. Following the incident, a case was registered with Hunsur town police station under Sections 310(2)/351(2) of BNS and 3/25 Arms Act.”
Following senior officers’ directive, a special team of the Bank and Jewellery Cell was formed under the leadership of DSP Anand Kumar to solve the case through interstate coordination of police.
A two-wheeler, Rs1 lakh in cash, a looted gold chain, a gold ring and a jewellery storage box were recovered from the accused.
“During interrogation, the arrested accused revealed that members of their gang also conducted reconnaissance in Jaipur, Visakhapatnam and Mysore. Pankaj was provided hands for committing the crime. Several criminal cases are registered against the two accused in various districts of Bihar, Rajasthan and Jharkhand. Further legal action is being taken by the Mysore police,” the STF statement added.
