Ruby's 'missing' paper found at Patna school

Patna: The missing home science answer paper of intermediate arts "topper" Ruby Roy was on Friday found at Balak High School, Rajendra Nagar, where the answersheets of the students of Vishun Roy College were evaluated.

After the special investigation team (SIT) probing the topper scam wrote to the education department about Ruby's missing copy, BSEB secretary Anup Kumar Sinha replied that the copy was not with the BSEB. However, Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj, who heads the SIT, said the home science answersheet of Ruby was found at the Rajendra Nagar school.

The answer copies of the students of Vishun Roy College were sent to the Balak High School, Rajendra Nagar for evaluation. The SIT has already arrested Shail Kumari, principal-cum-director of the school.

SIT sources said many letters have been recovered from the office of Bachcha Roy at the Vishun Roy College in Bhagwanpur, Vaishali. "Some letters are related to irregularities in awarding marks. The letters are mainly from parents requesting Bachcha to allot higher marks to their wards. In one such letter, the parent of a student has castigated Bachcha for not securing first division for the child despite receiving the amount," said an SIT officer.

Meanwhile, the SIT has pasted proclamation notices outside the residences of the three absconding toppers. Soon after an FIR was lodged with Kotwali police station in connection with the case on June 6, the SIT detained seven persons. Of them, five have been arrested. They include Visheshwar Prasad Yadav, principal of G A Inter School, Hajipur, Sanjiv Kumar Suman, mathematics teacher and copy checker at Balak High School, Rajendra Nagar, Ranjit Kumar Mishra, a clerk of Bihar Intermediate Council and Shambhunath Das, a clerk of BSEB's confidential section.
