Rs 24 lakh looted from SBI ATM in Bihar's Saran

Unidentified robbers prised open the ATM of SBI located at Gopal Bari village under Mashrak police station area in Saran district and decamped with Rs 24 lakh on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. According to police, the miscreants used gas cutter to break open the machine and steal the money.

PATNA/CHHAPRA: Unidentified robbers prised open the ATM of SBI located at Gopal Bari village under Mashrak police station area in Saran district and decamped with Rs 24 lakh on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. According to police, the miscreants used gas cutter to break open the machine and steal the money.
The incident came to light on Saturday morning when the nearby shopkeepers and customers arrived at the ATM kiosk on the Chhapra-Satar Ghar road to withdraw money.

The police station is only 500 metres away from the spot. The locals informed the bank officials. They also saw a few burned notes due to use of the gas cutter. The ATM is located at the house of Jag Lal Sharma, who reached Chhapra on Saturday morning from Kolkata.
Marhowra SDPO Naresh Paswan told TOI that the incident took place between 12 midnight and 1am. The ATM kiosk is located in front of a petrol station. "The robbers cut the shutter of the ATM kiosk and used a gas cutter to cut open the cash chest of the ATM," he said.
