Road construction department secretary reviews progress of city road projects
Patna: Road construction department (RCD) secretary, Pankaj Kumar Pal, inspected and reviewed various projects on Friday. He also carried out a field inspection of other key road projects within the city that were announced during the CM’s ‘Pragati Yatra’.
He said around 1.20 km of drain construction has been completed, along with 0.70 km of retaining wall work and 2 km of granular sub-base (GSB) work in the project related to road widening from Khagaul Nehru Path to Ashok Rajpath via the Rupaspur Canal Road corridor.
The project covers 6.90 km and received administrative approval of Rs71.48 crore for four-laning, widening and strengthening of the road.
According to officials, the inspection focused on widening, strengthening and drainage works aimed at easing traffic movement, reducing congestion and cutting travel time for commuters across the city’s western and southern corridors.
During the visit, Pal reviewed progress on multiple stretches linked to Nehru Path, Gola Path, Rupaspur Canal Road and the Saguna Mor corridor. Officials said the projects are designed to create alternative traffic arrangements and distribute vehicular load away from overburdened main roads, particularly during peak hours. One of the major works inspected was the AIIMS Golambar-Janipur-Painapur-Neva road, part of the broader Bihta-Sarmera-Patna Ring Road connectivity plan.
The 10.50 km stretch is being widened and strengthened to a two-lane standard. The department reported completion of 2.10 km of drain construction and 5.50 km of GSB and earthwork. The project received administrative approval of Rs138.50 crore.
Pal also reviewed the Rupaspur Canal to Saguna Mor section of Nehru Path, a 2.70 km project involving road construction and widening, along with underground drains on both sides. The department said raft foundation work is currently underway. The project was granted administrative approval of approximately Rs318.50 crore and is in active construction.
In addition, Pal inspected ongoing road construction intended to provide stronger connectivity from Patli Path to Nehru Path towards Danapur, a link expected to improve local access and reduce pressure on parallel routes.
He further took stock of the Nehru Path to Gola Path widening and strengthening work, a 2.20 km project currently in progress.
