PATNA: More than 100 teachers of different subjects drawn from different colleges of the state on Thursday decided to strive hard for undertaking qualitative research work of societal relevance and to raise the standard of higher education in Bihar.
Participating in a day-long workshop on research methodology organized by Sri Arvind Mahila College here as a part of Bihar's centenary celebrations, they observed that research is an important component of higher education and the quality of education won't improve without meaningful research output.
Addressing the participants, Marathwara Institute of Technology (MIT) faculty member Manju Kumar said that several agencies like the
UGC, CSIR, DST, ICSSR and ICHR were ready to extend financial support to the teachers for carrying out research work. The only thing is that they should send their research proposals to these agencies in right format and with proper justification. She interacted with the participants and apprised them of the methods of formulating proposals for research of societal relevance.
At the outset, college principal Asha Singh said that even though there is no dearth of talent in the state, our faculty members fail to take advantage of various schemes due to lack of technical know-how. She expressed the hope that the workshop would give the participants new insights into research methodology and formulation of foolproof research projects. College teachers -- Reena Sahay, Premi Kumar and Shiv Narain Singh -- coordinated the workshop. Senior teacher Madhubala Verma proposed the vote of thanks.
