Police raid fake drug packing unit

PATNA: The Patna police on Thursday busted a fake medicine packing unit at Nagwan village under Janipur police station.
Acting on a tip-off that a fake medicine packing unit was being run in the house of one Vidyanand Thakur at Nagwan village, a police team led by City SP Shivdeep Lande carried out raid there and seized fake medicines in powder form, wrappers, punching machine and medicine filled in bottles.
The City SP said that two persons, Pankaj Thakur and Sonu Thakur, both sons of Vidyanand Thakur, were arrested in this connection. He said the police seized 10 cartons of fake medicine from Thakur`s house.
Meanwhile, Thakur`s family members said that the medicines were given to them by one Amit about two days back, asking them to pack them in bottles. "Amit had promised them cash for their labour," they said and added that both the arrested persons run their barber shops at Phulwarisharif.
