Patna: Patna Police arrested a person in connection with the robbery of Rs20 lakh that took place on March 23. The incident occurred near an apartment on AN Path under Patliputra police station area, when three criminals on a motorcycle stopped an employee of a cash management company, riding a scooty, and robbed him at gunpoint.
Following the case, a
Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed on the instructions of senior officers. With the help of technical analysis, CCTV footage, and intelligence support from DIU Patna, the team traced the accused. On March 24, police arrested Saif Khan (31) from Begusarai district. They recovered Rs2,12,000 cash from him and seized the motorcycle used in the crime.
City superintendent of police (Central) Diksha said on Wednesday that the accused has a serious criminal background, including a previous murder case and other charges like kidnapping for ransom, robbery, and Arms Act violations. “The police have identified the weapon used as a pistol. Two motorcycles were involved in the robbery, and it is suspected that there was an insider tip-off, possibly from a former employee.”
She added: “The other two accused are still absconding. Raids are being conducted to arrest them and recover the remaining cash. Further investigation is underway to uncover the full details of the conspiracy.”
