Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off four new trains, lay the foundation stone for new lines, and inaugurate a newly built rail line during his visit to Purnia on September 15.
According to the northeast frontier railway chief public relations officer (CPRO) K K Sharma,
PM Modi will flag off Jogbani-Danapur Vande Bharat Express, Jogbani-Erode (Tamil Nadu) Amrit Bharat Express, a new passenger train on the newly built Araria-Galgalia (Thakurganj) rail line route falling under the Katihar division of the NFR and a new Saharsa-Chheharta (Amritsar) Amrit Bharat Express falling under the Samastipur division of the ECR.
“The inauguration of these new trains is being seen as a major boost for long-distance and regional rail connectivity in north Bihar,” the CPRO said.
In addition, Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the proposed 26-km-long Vikramshila-Katareah (Bhagalpur) new rail line-cum-bridge, which will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 2,171 crore, a strategic project aimed at easing congestion and enhancing east-west rail connectivity in Bihar. The PM will also inaugurate the newly completed rail line between Araria and Galgalia (Thakurganj) near Kisanganj, a stretch of 111km, built at a cost of Rs 4,412 crore, opening up a critical transport corridor near the India-Nepal border.
