Over 3,100 police personnel trained at Rajgir ATS: ADG

Patna: Counting achievements of Advanced Training School (ATS) at the Bihar Police Academy in Rajgir, additional director general (ADG) of Crime Investigation Department (CID), Parasnath, during a press conference on Monday said the school has been instrumental in providing specialised training to police officers.

He said since 2022, over 3,100 police officers have been trained at the school. The training curriculum includes modern technological tools, digital forensics, CCTV analysis, mobile data tracking, DNA analysis, fingerprinting, photography, and videography. He said the police department is also collaborating with premier institutions like CBI and National Investigation Agency (NIA) to enhance expertise.

The ADG said, “Crime patterns are changing rapidly, prompting Bihar Police to expand modern investigation training under the new criminal laws introduced in 2024. The new criminal laws have laid strong emphasis on the use of technology in investigation and trial processes.”

He said the Bihar Police has intensified in-service training for officers and personnel so they can become more capable, better informed, and technically proficient in maintaining law and order.

He said the police officers receive foundational training at the Bihar Police Academy in Rajgir. After completing basic training, they undergo in-service courses at the Higher Training School under the CID to improve the quality of criminal investigation.

“The school now trains around 350 officers every month through two-week courses. Under this expanded programme, 1,685 police officers at the level of inspector and directly recruited sub-inspector were trained in 2025, while 333 officers were trained in 2026, taking the numbers to 2,018 during the two years,” Parasnath said.

He said Bihar Police has been sending officers to reputed institutions across the country for specialised exposure.

Alongside regular training, Bihar Police has also stepped up preparations for the 69th All India Police Duty Meet-2026 that would conclude on April 3.

The ADG added, “The 46-member Bihar Police team will compete in six categories at the national event. As many as 15 personnel have been selected for scientific aid to investigation, six for computer awareness, three for police photography, three for police videography, 10 for dog squad events, and nine for anti-sabotage competition.”
