One killed, 18 injured in Bihar clash

SIWAN (BIHAR): One person was killed and 18 others, including 14 policemen and civil officers, were injured when a group of people clashed with the police at Madarpur Bazar in the district today, officials said.
The clash broke out as policemen tried to rescue a woman from locals who assaulted her apprehending her to be a child lifter, officiating district magistrate Arvind Tiwari said.

The irate locals indulged in heavy brickbatting following which the police personnel resorted to lathicharge to control the situation.
One person was killed in the clash, while 18 others sustained injuries, four of them seriously, Tiwari said.
The injured were admitted to a hospital and three policemen were referred to Patna Medical College Hospital.
The situation at Madarpur Bazar was tense but under control, he added.
