PATNA: In a significant development, Nalanda Open University (NOU), the only university of the state imparting higher education through distance mode, on Monday signed an MoU with Patna University with a view to promoting quality education and research.
The MoU was signed by the registrars of both the universities in the presence of Nalanda Open University vice-chancellor K C Sinha and PU vice-chancellor Girish Kumar Chaudhary in the latter’s chamber here.
Giving details of the MoU, the NOU VC said that his university has already signed MoU with a number of other reputed institutions inside and outside the state, including Patliputra University, Maulana Mazhar-ul Haq Arabic and Persian University and Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna. It is also set to sign an MoU with IIT Patna this week in order to expand its academic horizon, Sinha said. He further pointed out that NOU is also contemplating to have MoUs with about half-a-dozen different open universities of Madhya Pradesh, Odisa, Assam, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
