Nitish Kumar govt's catchy poll slogan of bringing sushasan (good governance) within 90 days of coming to power has now become the proverbial noose.
BHAGALPUR: If the slogans of agitators at the inauguration function of the Lohia Bridge, the railway over bridge-cum-approach road, on Friday here are any indication, Nitish Kumar-led NDA government's catchy poll slogan of bringing sushasan (good governance) in Bihar within 90 days of coming to power has now become the proverbial noose around the millstone.
Lathi-weilding policemen had hard time to tackle the the agitators here on Friday. People raised slogans like Bijli Nahin, pani nahin, kya isi ka naam hai sushasan? Govindpur mein bhookh se maut ka jimmewar kaun hai? The situation reminded the old-timers of Bhagwat Jha Azad, a former chief minister of the state. "Azad, a former local MP, shattered the hopes of the people here, within a short span of time. It was his high-headedness during the 1989 communal riots here which ultimately proved waterloo for Congress in the state. Once again, the false assurances of the local MP and MLAs may put NDA in trouble,"said one Mohammad Nisar. Nitish, however, assured the people here to have patience and faith. "My government would never let faith of the people down. It is a time to overhaul things. Soon, you would see a prospering Bihar,"he said.
