New train on Patna-Rajgir route launched
Biharsharif: Rail connectivity to Rajgir will improve with the introduction of a new train service from Patna starting April 6.
Railway officials said the train will run as a regular service between Patna and Rajgir with stoppages at several stations along the route. The service is likely to benefit passengers from different towns of Nalanda district and nearby areas who frequently travel to Rajgir.
Rajgir, surrounded by five hills, is one of Bihar’s most important tourist destinations. The town is historically significant as the ancient capital of the Magadh kingdom and is closely associated with Gautama Buddha and Lord Mahavira. Every year, thousands of pilgrims and tourists visit the town to explore its religious sites and natural beauty.
In recent years, several new attractions have been developed in Rajgir to promote tourism. The Rajgir Nature Safari has become a major attraction for visitors. The facility offers adventure activities such as zip-lining, sky cycling and trekking along the hills.
Another popular attraction is the Rajgir Glass Bridge, which gives visitors a view of the surrounding valley from a glass skywalk built high above the hills.
Tourists are also visiting the Rajgir Zoo Safari, where animals like lions, tigers and leopards can be seen in large forest enclosures.
Officials said the Rajgir-Nalanda region is part of the international Buddhist circuit. Visitors coming to important sites like Nalanda Mahavihara and the Mahabodhi Temple often include Rajgir in their travel plans.
With better rail connectivity and new tourist attractions, officials believe the Rajgir-Nalanda region will attract even more visitors in the coming years.
