Nalanda, Madhubani DMs review Census preparations
Biharsharif: Nalanda district magistrate (DM) Kundan Kumar on Thursday held a review meeting with officials concerned to assess preparedness for Census 2027, which will be conducted in two phases — phase I from May 2 to May 31, 2026, and phase II from Feb 9 to Feb 28, 2027. Madhubani DM Anand Sharma also convened a meeting regarding this and issued key directives to the officials concerned.
Nalanda DM said phase I will cover house listing and housing census. Self-enumeration (SE) will be available from April 17 to May 1 through an online portal, allowing families to fill in details by answering 33 questions. The submitted data will be verified through door-to-door visits by enumerators between May 2 and 31, during which corrections can also be made. One enumerator has been assigned for every 700–800 people, with one supervisor for every six enumerators.
The district statistical officer informed that all preparations have been completed, including the formation of census cells, training of officials, identification of special areas, creation of administrative IDs and selection of a manpower agency. Training of enumerators is scheduled from April 13 to April 24, 2026.
For the first time, the SE facility will enable families to submit details online and obtain a unique self-enumeration ID (SEID), which will be verified and updated by enumerators during field visits. The DM directed officials to ensure timely and accurate completion of all census activities.
In Madhubani, DM Anand Sharma also convened a meeting with senior district-level officers at his conference hall in the collectorate to review preparations for the smooth and successful conduct of the self-enumeration process, scheduled to run from April 17 to May 1. During the session, officers were briefed in detail about the self-enumeration procedure through an audio-visual presentation. The DM directed all officers concerned to ensure effective implementation of the process in their respective areas.
