Nalanda DM dismisses LPG shortage rumours

Biharsharif: Amid claims of LPG cylinder shortage in Nalanda district for the past several days, long queues outside gas agencies and panic booking, district magistrate Kundan Kumar on Saturday dismissed the rumours as baseless and urged residents not to be misled.

The DM said LPG cylinders are available in adequate stock across the district and oil marketing companies are maintaining a continuous and uninterrupted supply in line with actual consumption demand.




“Consumers who have placed refill booking requests are being served as per the order of their applications — there is no queue, no delay, and certainly no shortage,” he said.

According to the district administration, a network of 54 gas agencies across Nalanda distributes an average of around 16,131 LPG cylinders every day, ensuring that the balance between demand and supply remains comfortable.

The DM also said daily physical inspections of gas agencies and related facilities are being conducted as per departmental directives. At the same time, raids are being carried out at locations where hoarding and black marketing of cylinders is suspected.

The administration is also keeping a close watch on the misuse of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes.

He warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in rumour-mongering or hoarding of cylinders.
