Muz observe bandh to protest jeweller’s killing
MUZAFFARPUR: Trading in Muzaffarpur’s bullion market came to a halt on Wednesday as jewellers’ association called a bandh to protest the killing of a jeweller on Tuesday evening.
Sonarpatti under the Town police station area on Wednesday wore a deserted look after the killing of Raj Kishor Sah (50), a jeweller and resident of Maisthan in Sadpura locality under the Kazi Mohammadpur police station area, of the town.
Sah was gunned down by four assailants near Madhopur Susta village under Maniyari police station on Tuesday evening when he was on his way home along with his elder son Raju Sah.
Narrating the incident Raju said, “The criminals first knocked our motorbike. When we fell down, they snatched my wallet and a bag from my father. The keys of the shop and some documents were in the bag. There was only Rs 900 in the wallet. When my father resisted, they fired upon him. I took him to a nearby private hospital with the help of a local resident from where he was referred him to SKMCH. But seeing his condition deteriorating, I took him to sadar hospital quickly where doctors declared him brought dead.”
DSP (west) Krishna Murari Prasad confirmed the incident. He said that four persons have been taken into custody in the wee hours on Wednesday.
The jewellers’ association alleged that police were doing nothing to curb the crime. “Last night’s incident is the third one in the last 10 days. But police officials have miserably failed to nab the culprits. If this trend continues and no arresting is made, we will launch a massive protest,” said chairperson of the association, Chandrika Thakur.
