Modern bus depots to be built in 6 dists soon: Transport minister

Patna: The state govt has decided to construct modern bus depots in six districts at a total cost of Rs 62.83 crore under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme.Transport minister Shravan Kumar said on Saturday that the facilities would be established in Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur and Purnia. The building construction department will execute the project to facilitate the operation, maintenance and charging of electric buses, while also providing rest areas for drivers and conductors.Kumar said, “These modern depots are a vital step towards the safe operation of electric buses, better maintenance, passenger convenience, and driver welfare. This will help strengthen the public transport system while protecting the environment.”Each site will include an administrative building, a workshop, bus washing ramps, parking areas, charging stations and power backup. The infrastructure plan also mandates public toilets, a feeding room and 2-metre-high boundary walls.Specific infrastructure components will vary by location. The Muzaffarpur depot will feature a terminal with a public waiting area, sheds, roads, paver blocks, shops, an elevated platform and a guard room. In Gaya, the project includes roads, paver blocks, an elevated platform, shops, a terminal and charging stations.The Bhagalpur facility will consist of paver blocks, roads, shops, an elevated platform, a boundary wall, a guard room, a terminal and sheds. Purnia will receive a terminal with a public waiting area, sheds, paver blocks, shops and an elevated platform. The Darbhanga site will include sheds, paver blocks, shops, an elevated platform, a guard room and a boundary wall.
