Ministers fumble as MLAs ask questions
Patna: Urban development minister
In the case of Maheshwar Hazari, Speaker Vijay Kumar Choudhary deferred the listed short-notice question of JD (U) member Subodh Rai on the beautification of the Ganga ghat at Sultanganj (Bhagalpur) to another day.
Krishna Nandan Verma, on the other hand, had to be saved from the sorry situation by the Speaker on several occasions as MLAs insisted on grilling him with supplementary questions on availability of potable water.
Giving the government's reply to Rai's question, Hazari first said a DPR (detailed project report) on the beautification of the Ganga ghat at Sultanganj had been prepared and sent to the Centre for its approval and fund release.
Rai seemed unconvinced and put supplementary questions. The minister nearly managed its answer, but senior Congress member and former assembly Speaker Sadanand Singh asked the minister if the DPR had already been prepared, what was the cost involved and on which date was it sent to the Centre.
Hajari fumbled when the Speaker intervened and deferred the question to another date for reply by the minister. He also asked the minister to come prepared with answers.
