Man shot dead in Muzaffarpur

Patna: A 21-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Aurai police station area of Muzaffarpur district on Tuesday evening. The victim, Arjun Kumar, a resident of Baliya village, worked at a mobile shop in Aurai market.

According to police, Arjun was returning home on his bike from work when the assailants, who were lying in wait, opened fire near the middle school in Baliya village. He died on the spot after being hit by a bullet in the chest. Arjun was the eldest of two brothers and one sister. His father lives in Mumbai and is engaged in the business of selling mobile-related materials.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Arjun’s family members rushed to the spot and took him to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur, where doctors declared him brought dead. Arjun's mother, Rita Devi, alleged, “One month ago, a clash took place between Arjun and our neighbours over some issue. They had threatened to kill him.”

Aurai SHO Raja Singh said forensic experts collected evidence from the crime scene.

“It appears Arjun was shot dead during a loot attempt or due to personal enmity. An FIR has been registered against some of his neighbours based on the statements of the deceased’s family. We are also questioning family members and investigating the case from all angles, including a love affair, loot, and possible enmity,” the SHO added.
