Munna Kumar Jha is a 28-year-old communication specialist at Greenpeace India and a resident of Ashiana Nagar, Patna. Jha, who hails from Jharkhand, got himself enrolled in the electoral roll of Bihar for the first time this year. He shares his expectations from the next government with Sayantanee Choudhury. Excerpts:
Your take on the current political scenario. Politics in Bihar has taken an interesting turn with the emergence of Jitan Ram Manjhi and
Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav. Manjhi’s HAM (S) and Pappu’s Jan Adhikar Party can upset the social engineering of Mahagathbandhan comprising JD(U), RJD and Congress. The Bihar assembly election is also a personality war between CM Nitish Kumar and PM Narendra Modi.
What should be the priorities of political parties? Political parties should implement the recommendations of Bandopadhaya Commission report on land reforms, Amir Das commission report on alleged link between Ranvir Sena and BJP and the report on the common school system.
Rate the present government out of 10. The Nitish government succeeded in improving infrastructure in schools besides promoting girls’ education. He also made primary health centres and block offices function properly. The administrative apparatus has become more efficient and law and order too has improved. Road connectivity and electricity facilities have also improved. Hence, the government deserves to get 6 out of 10.
What are your expectations from the next government? The next government should carry on the momentum of development. It should focus on generating employment, providing universal pension, improving PDS system and ensuring cheap healthcare facilities.
Caste or development? We are waiting for the ‘vikas’ of people.
