Lalu slams BJP over bandh ‘hooliganism’
Patna: RJD President Lalu Prasad on Thursday lashed out at the BJP over its statewide bandh in Bihar, charging the party workers with “abusing and maltreating” women during the five-hour-long agitation. The RJD also posted several videos of the bandh enforcers on its social media platforms, highlighting the “rough treatment” to commuters on the roads during the bandh.
Turning to social media, Lalu strongly condemned the act of the bandh enforcers for allegedly maltreating teachers headed for school duty, pregnant women, students, and elders, warning the BJP leaders against underestimating the people of Bihar. “Has the Prime Minister ordered the BJP people to abuse the mothers, sisters, and daughters of Bihar?" Lalu asked in his post.
Alleging that the BJP people resorted to open “hooliganism” on the streets during ten bandh, leader of the opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav described it as a sign of their waning people's support. He said the protesting ruling party stopped ambulances on the streets and misbehaved with women. “The bandh failed to evoke any response,” Tejashwi claimed.
“Yah band nahin hurdang hai jise janata ne nakar diya (This is a shutdown but commotion which teh people rejected),” RJD’s chief spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav alleged, stating would the PM apologise for this. Stating the BJP is panicky after the Voter Adhikar Yatra, he said the masses would tecah a tough lesson to the party in the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
Congress legislature party leader in the state assembly, Shakeel Ahmad Khan, while describing the bandh as a “super flop”, said the ruling party left a very bad impression on society through its actions during the bandh. “Aside from the general commuters, they did not spare the vehicles carrying patients and teachers going to schools too,” Khan said.
He alleged the top BJP leadership made fun of the opposition leaders and passed insulting remarks. “The BJP people should look within themselves before making allegations against others,” Khan said, adding the ruling party had apparently gone restless after witnessing the people’s support during the just-concluded Voter Adhikar Yatra.
